CARTHAGE — Selectmen met with the town’s auditor, Larry Campbell, Monday night to continue work on the required annual document for fiscal year 2009-10.

First Selectman Steve Brown said he hopes that the audit will be completed by the board’s next regular meeting on Sept. 5. Once it is done and the town report is completed, selectmen will be able to set a date for the annual town meeting.

The town tries to set its annual town meeting, which is when funds are raised to pay municipal expenses, in March. But this year, some discrepancies with the auditor who generally conducts the review were identified, so the town had to seek another accountant.

Brown said no problems exist in the town’s books.

Once the town meeting is held, a selectman and several other municipal officers will be elected. Up for election this year is Selectman Bob Weston who is expected to run for another three-year term.
