Two area businesses are among 10 businesses awarded grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to implement renewable energy and energy efficiency measures in their operations, according to a recent announcement.

A total of $183,339 will be provided to Maine businesses through the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program.

* Grant’s Bakery of Lewiston received almost $20,000 for a solar project.

* Bancroft Contracting Corp. of South Paris received $20,000 for a solar project and another $20,000 for energy-efficiency efforts.
