AUBURN — Arthur “Art” Brown, 85, of Stratton, died Sunday, Aug. 14, at the Hospice House. He had a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and moved to Maine in 1946. He and his partner, Bill, owned and managed “Topps Motel and Restaurant” in Wilton for 32 years. 

He is survived by his brother, Earl G. Brown and his wife, Eva, of South Carolina; his daughter, Ruth Jackson of Lewiston; nieces and nephews; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many loving friends.

He was predeceased by his partner and best friend of 50 years, William Topps; his brother, Norman Brown; and his friend and companion for the last 10 years, Alma Dube of Stratton.

Thanks to all the wonderful hospice caregivers at his home and at the Hospice House.
