WALDOBORO — Dustin John Osier, 18, of Waldoboro passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 19.
He was born Oct. 1, 1992, in Damariscotta, the oldest son of John and Lisa Osier. He grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools and was a graduate of Medomak Valley High School, Class of 2010.
He led a very active lifestyle and his family said that he was always busy and could never sit still for longer than a minute. He enjoyed being outdoors, from spending time in the woods cutting trees, hunting, or riding a four wheeler, or the time he spent on the fishing or on “his” Sea-Doo, seeing as he was the only one with that magic touch that could get it started. In the wintertime he took to ice fishing with his dad and brother.
He loved sports from day one, whether it was on the baseball diamond, the soccer field or the basketball court; he loved it all. He took his talents for basketball and began coaching Pee Wee and became a mentor to all of the kids on his team, as well as other children in the community.
He loved to go shopping, especially if there was going to be an opportunity to buy a new pair of sneakers, as long as the sneakers were Nike, of course. He loved to eat out and frequented Subway and Moody’s Diner quite often.
One of the most important things in Dustin’s life was his family, and he always put them first. Whether it was helping his papa get ready for the summer by putting out floats and docks or loading up his brothers and sisters in his truck and just going for a cruise, whether it was to get an ice cream or a shopping trip to Freeport. He was the typical older brother and was very protective of all of his younger siblings, and it is for this reason that they all share a strong bond to one another. He had an infectious smile and a great personality and not a day will go by that he will not be missed.
Survivors include his loving parents, John and Lisa Osier of Waldoboro; brother, Shane Osier, sisters Hannah and Haley Osier, all of Waldoboro; paternal grandparents, John and Marion Osier of Waldoboro; maternal grandmother, Jean Fales, and her husband, Rusty, of Warren; maternal grandfather, Stuart Poland, and his wife, Iris, of Walpole; girlfriend, Brianna Janke, and her daughter, Delaney, of Dixfield; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
