A Maine Department of Transportation crew replaced a large pipe this week on the Whittier Road near Farmington Baptist Church and Central Maine Power Co. A portion of the road was closed to traffic from Wilton Road to Seamon Road on Monday and Tuesday. Traffic was detoured to the Knowlton Corner Road, Seamon and back on to Whittier during the work. Bob Boulay, left, and Kelly Dyke, right, discuss the project during the Tuesday lunch break. Dyke expected the work to be finished Tuesday. The pipe was old and needed replacement, he said. The department has replaced several pipes on the road but this one at 36-inches was larger causing the detour, he said. Plans are to repave the road but not this year.
