NORWAY — Ruth Bean, 91, of 62 Lover’s Lane in Bethel died Aug. 22, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born on July 6, 1920, in Errol, N.H., to Agnes and Darwin Sweatt.

Ruthie worked in the Shipyard in South Portland as a welder. She worked many years for Phil and Mary Chadbourne, also Hanover Dowel Mill and was an aid at Rumford Hospital. Ruthie graduated from Telstar Regional High School in May 1983, with her sister, brothers, children and grandchildren present.

Ruthie loved to dance, knit and crochet.

She will long be remembered for walking Mill Hill to the center of town. Everyone knew her.

Ruthie is survived by her three children, Roberta Saunders of Ellsworth, Charlie Bean and his wife, Beth, of Newry and Dana Bean of Florida; one brother, Ralph Sweatt and his companion, Bunny, of Errol, N.H.; sisters-in-law, Jane Young of Bethel and Peggy Sweatt of Sun City, Ariz.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ruthie was predeceased by her husband, Robert Bean; two sisters, Emily Cross and Rose Travers; two brothers, Harold and Erwin Sweatt; and a great-grandson, Kris Jordan.
