Curtis benefit

LIVERMORE FALLS — A dinner and concert to benefit Izzabella Curtis and her family will be held Saturday, Aug. 27.

A spaghetti dinner will be at 5 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall on Baldwin Street, followed by a concert at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary on Wheeler Street. Musicians will include Stone Faith, Present Company and more. Donations will be accepted at both events. A raffle will also be held.

Proceeds will go to the Curtis family of Jay for any unforeseeable expenses in the future for five-year-old Izzabella, who was attacked by a dog. Izzabella has requested that some of the proceeds benefit other traumatized children transported by North Star Ambulances and given a love offering like the stuffed moose she received, which she sleeps with and named Moose Angel.

Donations may also be mailed to grandparents Walter and Lisa Evrard, 22 Vine St., Livermore Falls ME 04254.

Boosters meet

JAY — Spruce Mountain Middle School Boosters will meet at 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28, at the middle school cafeteria. The group supports sports and co-curriculum activities.

Music, potluck

LIVERMORE — All are welcome to attend Music with Jan at the North Livermore Baptist Church on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Attendees should bring a favorite dish to share at a 5 p.m. potluck. Beverages will be provided. After the meal Jan Gill will entertain with her musical talent. For more information, call 897-5377.

Chickadees return

SALEM — The Chickadees will return to the Salem Community Building at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, for an afternoon of country music and fun. Refreshments will be on sale and a donation box will be at the door. Hosted by the Salem Pine Tree Club.

Ice cream social

STRATTON — The Dead River Area Historical Society will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. A free ice cream social will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Brownie a la mode will be made and served by volunteers.

Charlie Bruce will entertain with songs like “Jud Strunk’s A Daisy a Day.” He does a great John Denver and takes requests. Everyone welcome.

The Dead River Area Historical Society is open every weekend throughout July and August from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and by advance appointment year-round. Displays include a collection of old carpentry and logging tools, china, glass, church organ, furniture from native families, a complete schoolroom, a memorial room to the “lost” towns of Flagstaff and Dead River, the lineage of several native families and a host of memorabilia from native homesteads.

WILTON — The Puffers will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 195 US Route 2E. The public is welcome. A free will offering will be taken.

Grange supper

JAY — A public supper will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at the North Jay Grange #10, Route 17. Menu includes baked beans, casseroles, salads, cole slaw, desserts and beverages. Public breakfast

KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast will be offered from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Kingfield United Methodist Church.

The menu will include pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home fries, muffins, coffee and juice. New for this breakfast the group will be serving sausage gravy and biscuits.

CNA course

TURNER — MSAD #52 Adult and Community Education will hold a CNA class starting Oct. 11. The 180-hour certified nursing assistant course is designed to provide the skills and experience to be Maine State Certified. Candidates must be dedicated, hard working, reliable and compassionate with an interest in a health care career.

Thrift clearance

RANGELEY — The Thrift Shoppe of Good Shepherd will hold its annual summer clearance sale from Monday, Labor Day, Sept. 5, until Saturday, Oct.r 1. The Thrift Shoppe is located in the undercroft of the Episcopal Church, Main Street. The regular hours for shopping are Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday evenings from 5 to 9 p.m. are also available from this time through the duration of the sale. Look for the yellow walkboard sign.

Homemakers meet

INDUSTRY — Clearwater Extension Homemakers members will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Shorey Chapel Church. Programs will be planned for the year. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call 778-6780.
