HEBRON — Hebron Academy held commencement exercises on May 28, awarding diplomas to 76 graduates, representing 15 states and six countries and provinces. Local students receiving honors in the graduating class included the following:

The Bernat Memorial Award for further studies in the humanities was awarded to Nicole Allen of Lewiston and Delaware, who will attend the University of New England in Biddeford in September. An accomplished artist, Allen was a member of the girls’ soccer and softball teams, the Jazz Band and the Green Key tour guides. She is the daughter of Lisa and Chris Allen of Delaware and the granddaughter of Louise Chabot of Auburn.

Michael Bouchard of Lewiston received the Regis A. Lepage Scholarship Prize, given by Lepage Bakeries of Auburn, in honor of Regis A. Lepage, a generous supporter of post-secondary study for young people in the belief that strength comes through education. Bouchard also received the Hebron Academic Excellence award for his accomplishments in Spanish. He was a four-year member of the boys’ soccer, hockey and lacrosse teams, a class officer and a Green Key tour guide. The son of Mike and Tina Bouchard, he will attend Hobart-William Smith College in the fall.

Thomas Cummings of Norway received the Risman Honor Award in recognition of his “diligence of academic accomplishment, determination in athletic endeavor and outstanding good character.” He also was the recipient of the Hebron Academic Excellence Awards in history. While at Hebron, Cummings was a member of the soccer, hockey and lacrosse teams, and was a member of the state championship math team. The son of Cynthia Reedy and Brad Cummings, he will attend the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. in the fall.

Polly Drown of Leeds received the Hebron Cup, given to the member of the senior class who in the opinion of the faculty represents the finest spirit of scholastic effort, who has in athletic competition shown a high degree of excellence and who has in personal relations with the school shown a commendable spirit of devotion, high ideals, friendliness, endeavor and responsibility. She also received the Hebron Academic Excellence Awards for English. While at Hebron, she was a member of the a capella group and the casts of the all-school musicals, played for the girls’ field hockey and lacrosse teams and served as a senior proctor. Drown is the daughter of Grace and the late Scott Drown, and will attend George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in September.

Levi Lincoln received the Hebron Athletic Award for his exceptional performance in the field of athletics and outstanding cooperation, leadership and fair play. Lincoln was a member of the football, basketball and lacrosse teams, and received All-New England Team honors for his football accomplishments. He is the son of JoAnn Lincoln of Norway, and will attend American International College in September.

The Ernest Sherman Award was presented to Robert A. F. MacLellan of Hebron for his dedication to Hebron Academy and personal concern for fellow students and the community. MacLellan also received the Academic Excellence Award in Music for his accomplishments. A member of the academy’s orchestra, he also played with the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble as first chair euphonium, with the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra, and was selected for the All-State Orchestra. The son of Kathi and Bob MacLellan, he will attend the College of Wooster in Ohio next year.

Taylor Theriault of Minot received the Milton G. Wheeler Good Fellowship Award, given to recognize a member of the senior class for highest standards of citizenship and integrity. Theriault was a member of the boys’ soccer, snowboarding and track teams and the Green Key Admissions tour guides, and was selected as a senior dormitory proctor. He is the son of Trina and Mike Theriault, and will attend the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston next year.

Erika Lee Thomas received a certificate and medal for maxima cum laude in Level 3 Latin from the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, which recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in Latin by distinguishing themselves in the National Latin Examination. Thomas also received the Hebron Academic Excellence Award for her work in Latin, and the Tyler/Grandmaison Scholarship. She is the daughter of Bonnie and Billy Thomas of Lewiston, and will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in September.

Undergraduate student accomplishments were recognized at the academy’s recent baccalaureate ceremonies:

Lindsey Hughes received the Award for Humanity and Social Justice for her “exceptional commitment to preserving and expanding acceptance and tolerance of all persons.” She is the daughter of Mike and Belinda Hughes of Hebron.

Matthew Fensore of New Gloucester received the Outdoor Leadership Prize for his “profound concern for the natural environment.” He is the son of Carolyn and David Fensore.

Allison Cummings of Harrison was awarded the Compton Prize in Languages for her accomplishment in the study of languages. She is the daughter of Dawn Solomon.

The Community Scholarship Prize, given in memory of Charlotte Stonebraker, librarian of Hupper Library for more than 20 years, was awarded to Elijah Moreshead of Auburn, the son of Karen Smith and James Moreshead.

Harry Trask was presented with the Middlebury Book Award for his leadership and academic accomplishments at the school. He is the son Eliza Beghe and Jason Trask of Norway.

The Harvard Book Prizes, given by the Harvard Club of Boston to outstanding members of the Junior Class who display excellence in scholarship and high character, and who exemplify Harvard’s concern for excellence, were awarded to Maxwell Middleton and Allyson Strachan, both of Hebron. Middleton is the son of Steve and Julie Middleton, and Strachen is the daughter of Andrew and Sharon Strachen.
