FARMINGTON — Police are investigating the theft of $4,800 worth of equipment from two homes 100 yards apart early Wednesday morning.
The first theft reported to Farmington Police Department at 6:14 a.m. Wednesday was on the Porter Hill Road, police Chief Jack Peck said.
An Evinrude outboard motor valued at $800 was taken from a boat parked on the homeowner’s lawn.
A second theft was reported at about 7:30 a.m. when a Clover Mill Road homeowner discovered equipment valued at $4,000 was taken from an unlocked outbuilding on his property.
Someone entered the building and took a Stihl chain saw and an air compressor, a pump and a generator. These three were Titan brand products and were new, Peck said.
The thefts are believed to have occurred between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Police believe they are connected and are investigating.
