Issue: The town had switched to Glacial Energy for its power in an effort to save money.
The scoop: A representative from Glacial missed several meetings with the board. The town bookkeeper told selectmen Sabattus’ electric bill was about $300 more a month.
Up next: Selectmen voted to terminate the contract and go back to Central Maine Power.
Odds and ends
Issue: Norm LaPlante, Mary LaPlante, Paul Loesberg, Loretta Hinkley and Coral Herbert were appointed to the new Sabattus Gazebo Committee.
Issue: Josh Theriault was hired as the new town office custodian.
Issue: Asbestos was removed from an outbuilding at the former Webster mill for $2,100, below budget.
Issue: The town has estimated its Tropical Storm Irene costs at $24,771.72 with overtime and per diem wages for firefighters.
Issue: The Police Department has a new Citizen Ride Along program policy.
