Obama has real guts

We are getting so sick and tired that every time President Barack Obama tries to do something to get this country back on its feet, the Republicans say “no.”

Just think back if you can, of all the times we had a Republican as president, things were not good. All they want to do is make the rich richer.

Look at when George W. Bush was president. He was handed a surplus from President Bill Clinton and, months later, we were in the hole and at war. He made a lot of rich people richer with tax breaks and the way the banks and housing markets went bananas.

Has everybody really forgotten the past and how we got where we are, or does everyone have their head in the sand?

We do not care for freeloaders in public office and, as far as we’re concerned, we have two Republican senators who seem to fit the bill. Neither one of them did much of anything to keep Brunswick Naval Air Station open, and now what are they doing to keep our commissary in Topsham open for the retirees who still live here?

They transferred the planes and military people to Florida. We have no bases left in Maine, but Florida has 12.

Everybody, it seems, is down on Obama, but we think he had a lot of guts to even take on this job with the people who are against him from the House and Senate.
