AUGUSTA – NAMI Maine, The National Alliance on Mental Illness, will hold its first Capricious Art, Jewelry and Collectibles Auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Senator Inn. The event will recognize Julie Ann O’Brien, former Legislator, board chair for NAMI Maine, community developer, founder and executive director of the Children’s Discovery Museum in Augusta.
The event will raise money and awareness for NAMI Maine, a grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of everyone affected by mental illness. Services are provided both directly and through a statewide structure of local affiliates and support groups. NAMI Maine offers compassion and provides social/emotional support, advocates for improved quality of services, educates, informs and provides resources. NAMI Maine also raises public awareness, promotes understanding, promotes the importance of peer support, trains volunteers and professionals and fosters a statewide network of affiliates and support groups.
Hors d’oeuvres, desserts, cash bar and a wide array of art, collectibles and jewelry donated by some of Maine’s most prestigious artists and artisans will be available for bid.
