LEWISTON — Bradley Robert King, 84, of Greene, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Mechanic Falls, Aug. 5, 1927, to Grace Hartford and Edward J. King. He attended both Edward Little High School and Lewiston High School, leaving in his senior year to enter the Navy during World War II. In 1943, he served on the air craft carrier The USS Boxer (now retired). He was discharged on his birthday in 1945.

Mr. King started out in construction working for his brother-in-law, Owen M. Taylor, then of Winthrop also for Herb Callahan, George Farris and Ed Hodgkin. From there, he moved with his wife, Joyce Taylor King to Prince Frederick, Md., to be near their only child, Dennis Bradley King, who worked at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant.

Mr. and Mrs. King were married in Auburn on March 31, 1951. In Maryland, Bradley was assistant road superintendent for Calvert county and retired there at the age of 70. While he lived in Maryland, he and his wife were blessed and had the pleasure of having two beautiful grandchildren, B.J. King and Erin M. King. B.J.’s home is in Whiteford, Md., and Erin lives in Rosedale, Md.

Mr. and Mrs. King decided it was time to return home to be near their families and dear friends in Maine about four years ago. Their home is in Greene, where Bradley loved and enjoyed every minute of taking pride in his lawns and working around the home he loved.

He also enjoyed his neighbors and good friends, Don and Donna Rose, Ed and Ester Rose, Lloyd and Linda Proctor and Don and Debbie. Mr. and Mrs. King left many friends and their home they enjoyed and loved in Maryland to return to their birth place in Maine.

Bradley enjoyed life with his wife, son and grandchildren and coming home to be near his families and friends and he is now and always will be loved and missed forever. Bradley and Joyce attended St. Francis Church in Greene.

Mr. King enjoyed good health and was very active until January of this year. He is and will be sadly missed.

Mr. King came from a large family of 15 children.

He is survived by his wife of 60 wonderful years, Joyce of Greene; a son, Dennis B. King of Greene; two grandchildren, B.J. and Erin; three sisters, Marianna Spugnardi of Lewiston, Betty Vachon of Lewiston and Judy Bean of Auburn; three brothers, Johnny of Lewiston, Michael of Greene and Patrick King of Poland, and their spouses; his sister-in-law, Phyllis M. Smith of Bethel; brother-in-law and friend, Edward Taylor and wife, Anita, of Greene; also many, many nieces and nephews on both his side and his wife’s, who loved him dearly and to each one of you — always remember he loved you too.

He was predeceased by his mother; father; five brothers; and three sisters.
