CANTON — The Girls Scouts of Troop 329 recently made a presentation to the Canton Board of Selectman to seek permission to use a town lot as a community garden. The lot in question is one that was purchased by the town during the flood mitigation program of 2004-2007.
Troop 329 presented beginning plot plans for their lots in the garden and acknowledged the help of Tom Adley of the Parks and Trails Committee.
The Scouts are planning to use the town’s community garden guidelines that are already in place and make lots available to people who want to grow produce or flowers.
The Girl Scouts are planning signage, water management, detailed plot plans and are approaching the Healthy Communities Coalition and other community resources for information and support.
