LEWISTON — Clovis J. ‘Butch’ Bouchard, 90, of 87 Gagne St., went home to the Lord on Friday, Nov. 11, at his home.

He was born in St. Norbert, P.Q. Canada on Dec. 17, 1920, son of the late Dominique and Georgianne Goudreau Bouchard. He grew up in Lewiston and was educated in local schools. On Nov. 22, 1941. he married Virginia E. ‘Ginger’ Turgeon Bouchard, with whom he had three children. She predeceased him on July 7, 2008. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1946. Although he rarely spoke of this time in his life, he was awarded the following: World War II Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic—Pacific Ribbon—three stars, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Upon returning home from the war, he began his career at Knapp Shoe, working his way up the ladder to assistant superintendent in 1965. He retired from Knapp Shoe in 1985. From 1953 to 1999 he served on the board of directors as a charter member for the Aerotred Federal Credit Union, now Great Falls Federal Credit Union. He was a proud member of American Legion Post No. 22. Butch was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross Senior Citizens, Sabattus Senior Citizens, and Robin Dow Senior Citizens. He liked to bowl, travel and enjoyed fishing and family gatherings.

He is survived by a daughter, Dr. Susan J. Bouchard and husband, Dr. Jon K. Evans, of Hawaii; three granddaughters, Jennifer Murray and husband, Paul, of Sandwich, Mass., Wendie Bourgoin and husband, Don, of Wales, and Kerrie Childs of Auburn; 11 great-grandchildren, Dominic and Paige Bourgoin of Wales, James and Matthew Murray of Sandwich, Mass., Kendra Wilson, Kailee, Cody, Kassee, Katherine, Caden and Chance Childs of Auburn; and a special daughter-in-law, Martha Bouchard of Rockland.

He was predeceased by two of his children, Sandra Denney in 1995 and James Bouchard in 1997.
