FARMINGTON — Wayne Bennett has been appointed chief financial officer at Franklin Community Health Network and Franklin Memorial Hospital, President/CEO Rebecca Ryder announced.

Bennett replaces Eric Martinsen, who will retire Dec. 31. Bennett will begin his new position Jan. 3.

He will be responsible for the management of the network’s financial activities, such as receipt of revenues, expenditures of funds, and conservation of hospital assets.

Bennett will serve as a member of the senior management team, assisting with the development of key strategies to assure the overall future financial health and well-being of the organization. He will act as the lead administrative staff person working with the FCHN Board Finance Committee and will additionally oversee the functions of the accounting, revenue cycle, patient billing, patient registration, medical records, and materials management departments.

Bennett presently serves as the chief financial officer for Mt. Ascutney in Windsor, Vt. Before that, he was the chief financial officers at Mercy Health System of Maine, which includes Mercy Hospital in Portland. He was vice president of finance at Central Maine Healthcare, a three-hospital system that includes Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Bennett holds a dual master’s degree in business administration and health administration from the Georgia State University, Institute of Health Administration.

Bennett plans to move to the area in the near future.
