AUBURN — Gilberte M. Laberge, 94, a longtime resident of Tampa Street in Lewiston, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 19, at the Hospice House with family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston March 5, 1917, a daughter of Alfred and Celina Roy St. Pierre. She was educated in local schools, remained a lifelong resident of this community and was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. In 1943 she married Josephat Laberge, who predeceased her in 1974.

She first worked for some years at the Pepperell Mill, then spent a number of years at T.J. Murphy Furriers, and later retired from Owen Moore Clothing Store in 1980.

Among her favorite enjoyments were spending time with family, cooking and entertaining, as she was often referred to by her family as the “Hostess with the mostest.” Taking off in her car and going for day trips to different places, she especially enjoyed spending time at the ocean. She was an avid Red Sox fan and she also thoroughly enjoyed holding yard sales at her home and selling her quality merchandise.

She was a loving, devoted and hardworking mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves two daughters, Joan Dunton and husband, Ron, of Lewiston, and Linda Ducharme, also of Lewiston; nine grandchildren, Michael, Randall and wife, Jenny, Jeffrey Randall and wife, Mary, Christopher Randall and wife, Beth, Kara Randall, Jason Ducharme, Angela Ducharme, Andrew Laberge and wife, Crystal, Kimberly Campbell and husband, Al, and Scott Laberge and wife, Kim; 13 great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Norman Castonguay and wife, Colleen, and Roger Nolin and wife, Wanda.

She was predeceased by her son, Richard Laberge; son-in-law, Whitney L. Randall; and her four sisters, Annette, Viola, Liane and Rita.
