FARMINGTON — Justin Michael Crowley-Smilek, 28, of Farmington, died Saturday, Nov. 19, in Farmington.

He was born Sept. 10, 1983, in Austin, Texas, a son of Michael Smilek and Ruth Crowley. He received his education in SAD 9 and Brunswick schools, earned his GED and attended Perimeter College in Atlanta, Ga.

When he joined the U.S Army in 2005, and became an Army Ranger, it was his dream to continue his education and become a police officer.

A charismatic person with a beautiful smile, he will be remembered by his family as a good person with a large heart. He was most content when spending time with his dog, “Ranger,” walking in the woods, camping, hiking and riding his bike for miles and miles. Justin enjoyed listening to rap music (and playing it loudly), cooking for his family and he was a sensitive, protective big brother for his dear sister, Mary-Elise.

He leaves his loving family, mom, Ruth Crowley and her partner, Kelley Wescott, of Portland, Ore.; dad, Michael Smilek and his wife, Lorna Smilek, of Farmington; sister, Mary-Elise Crowley and her husband, Nicholas Lane, of Portland, Ore.; girlfriend, Destiny Cook of Farmington; aunt, Mary Wight and cousin, Elisha Flint, both of Holbrook, Mass.

Tributes and condolences may be shared on his memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
