LEWISTON — Oakhurst Dairy recently gave $5,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine, which includes clubs in Portland and Lewiston-Auburn, and pledged to donate up to $5,000 next year in a collaboration with the Maine Red Claws.
During the upcoming season, Oakhurst Dairy will donate $500 to the clubs each time the Maine Red Claws score more than 100 points at one of the team’s 24 home games, to a maximum of $5,000. The first home game is set for Saturday, Dec. 3, against the Springfield Armor.
Oakhurst Dairy, northern New England’s largest independent family-owned dairy company, has been a sponsor of the 100+ program since 2009. The recent $5,000 donation was based on the Red Claws performance last year.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people, particularly those who need it most, to realize their full potential. The clubs have five locations in greater Portland and Lewiston-Auburn and serve 2,600 members annually, ages 5-18.
