LIVERMORE FALLS — Donald O. Kennedy, 83, a resident of Souther Road, Livermore Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Monday, Dec. 5, at his home.

He was born May 21, 1928, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the son of George and Alexina M. (Holbrook) Kennedy. He was a 1946 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and graduated from University of Maine in 1950.

Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. On May 11, 1957, at Niagara Falls, N.Y., he married his wife of 54 years, Sarah L. Vanderlip.

Donald worked as a plant engineer for IP in Niagara Falls, N.Y.; York Haven, Pa., and retired from the Androscoggin Mill in Jay in 1985, and the Maine Department of Transportation retiring in 1990.

He was a member and former trustee of the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls; Oriental Star 21 Masonic Lodge in Livermore Falls; the George Bunton Post 10 American Legion in Livermore Falls; the IP Quarter Century Club and the Maine State Licensed Professional Engineers. Donald served as a Little League coach and Cub Master for Cub Scouts. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, sketching, drawing, crossword puzzles, his dogs, but especially the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah L. Kennedy of Livermore Falls; his sons, William Kennedy and his wife, Cheryl, of Marion, Ark., Theodore Kennedy and his wife, Cindy, of San Mateo, Fla., and Douglas Kennedy and his wife, Megan, of Rockland; his daughter, Sharon Peabody and her husband, Dale, of China; nine grandchildren, Jocelyn, Heather, Christopher, Andrew, Trevor, Erin and Madeline Kennedy and Hannah and Luke Peabody; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Clifford, Bruce, Kenneth and Thomas Kennedy; and his sister, Shirley Jordan.
