WILTON — A downtown revitalization public workshop will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Academy Hill School cafeteria.
Town officials and a professional consultant team led by Wright-Pierce will hold the workshop to discuss the development of a Wilton Downtown Revitalization Plan. Town residents and business owners are invited to attend.
The purpose of the workshop is to confirm what the consultant team has learned so far about what citizens and business owners see as both needs and opportunities for the downtown, and what they would like to see for improvements to the downtown.
The workshop will feature an informational presentation, results of the survey and activities to gain feedback from workshop participants.
Over the next several months, the consultant team will continue to work with the community to develop ideas, prioritize needs and improvements, and outline economic development strategies for Wilton’s downtown.
The Downtown Revitalization Plan is funded through a Maine Department of Economic and Community Development Block Grant.
In November surveys were mailed to residents and businesses in Wilton seeking input on items such as the kinds of businesses and services people would like to see downtown, and whether items such as sidewalk improvements, streetscape amenities, improvements to downtown buildings and properties are important.
The return response rate to the surveys was positive, and results of the survey will be given at this workshop.
This will be the first of two public meetings regarding the downtown plan. It will be rescheduled for January in the event of inclement weather.
