BETHEL – The award-winning and world-renowned Golden Gates Russian Music and Dance Company will offer an authentic glimpse into Old Russia on Jan. 5 at Bingham Auditorium.

The company’s repertoire is centered on masterpieces of Russian folklore and represents the diversity of the culture, ranging from gently humorous songs to elaborate lyrical suites to pulsating dance numbers. 

Golden Gates brings balalaikas, accordions and other musical instruments, humorous dances and vocals together for varied programs for audiences of all ages.

Led by Vitaliy Bezrodnov, the group was formed under his direction in Kaluga, Russia, in the late 1980s. After completing their Conservatory studies, the performers regrouped in 1996 in the United States. 

The 7 p.m. performance is the second in the 2011-2012 Gould Performing Arts Series presented by the Mahoosuc Arts Council.
