SABATTUS — A benefit event on Saturday, Dec. 17, will raise funds to help Jeremy Dix, a local man who recently had a brain tumor removed. Admission to the benefit will be a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. The fundraiser will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at SPRQ Studios, 20 Main St.

The event will feature Zumba from 1 to 3 p.m., as well as a bake sale, silent auction items from Northern Chi, Stephanie Morin Photography, Alison Douglass Photography, various hand-crafted items and more. Gift certificates and gifts will be raffled. All proceeds from the bake sale, silent auction and raffles will go directly to Jeremy and his wife, Abby.

The Marines and American Legion members will do a toy pick-up ceremony for the Toys for Tots donations from 3 to 4 p.m.

On Nov. 20, Dix wasn’t feeling well and his wife, Abby, rushed him to the ER. While at the ER, a tumor was discovered in his brain. The tumor (“Bertha,” as Jeremy calls it) was removed on Nov. 25. Family and friends have high hopes that Dix will be back up and running in a few months, as well as getting back to work.
