AUBURN — Leon P. Levasseur died unexpectedly at home on Nov. 5.

He was born on March 14, 1944, in Bangor, to Emile Levasseur and Agnes Ouellette Levasseur of Van Buren. Leon spent the first half of his life as a resident of the Pineland Center in New Gloucester.

He became an independent member of the Lewiston-Auburn area approximately 35 years ago and was a productive employee at Hillcrest Poultry for a short period of time and then spent the next 25 years as an employee of Bates College. Upon his retirement from Bates College, Leon’s love of people drew him to work parttime at McDonald’s in Auburn, where he was employed at the time of his death.

Leon was a caring man with a smile that everyone who knew him will always remember. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his job at McDonald’s very much. He thought of his co-workers and the many customers he made friends with as his family. He was always willing to help anyone and never asked for anything in return.

He loved to take walks and made many friends along the way, some happened to be the pigeons that he frequently fed at Kennedy Park. He will be sadly missed by all of his extended family and his love for us will never be forgotten.
