LISBON — St. Dom’s raced out to a 23-2 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in downing Lisbon 58-33 in an MVC boys’ basketball clash Friday.

St. Dom’s (1-2) moved the ball around well, playing a fast transition game to build a 39-9 cushion by halftime.

Senior guard Joe Bryant registered a game-high 20 points, including a pair of 3-point baskets in the win. Tom Applegate followed with 16 points for the Saints.

Mason Haley and Mason Smith paced the Greyhounds (0-3) with eight and seven points, respectively.

Cony 49, Oxford Hills 47

AUGUSTA — Walker Cooper scored eight of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter to help propel Cony to a 49-47 victory over Oxford Hills.

Cony (1-2) led 21-19 at the half, but the Vikings (1-2) came out and outscored the Rams 20-13 for a 39-34 edge heading into the fourth quarter. Cooper took care of the rest, matching Oxford Hills’ eight fourth-quarter points.

Josh MacDonald and John Frenchetti each netted 11 points for the Vikings. Ryan Gaudin followed with three 3-point baskets to finish with 10 points.

Brunswick 54, Edward Little 48

BRUNSWICK — Mitch Black hit a key jump shot with just under a minute remaining to put Brunswick up for good as the Dragons defeated Edward Little 54-48 in Class A KVAC boys’ basketball.

The Red Eddies (2-1) took the early lead with a 17-9 first quarter. Brunswick used a strong second quarter, outscoring Edward Little 16-3 to grab a slim five-point lead into intermission.

The game remained a back-and-forth affair until Black’s jump shot. Black scored six of his 13 points in the final frame to seal the victory. Konnor Scarponi led the Dragons with 17 points.

Quin Leary poured in a team-high 17 points, followed by 11 points from Nate Alexander.

Mountain Valley 51, Monmouth 16

MONMOUTH — Jacob Theriault fired in 22 points, including a trio from behind the arc as Mountain Valley routed Monmouth 51-16 in boys’ basketball action.

The Falcons (2-1) opened with an 18-4 first quarter en route to the victory.

Mountain Valley played suffocating defense, not allowing more than six points in any quarter.

Zac Radcliffe chipped in with 12 points for Mountain Valley. Andrew Child added nine. Drew McFaren led the Mustangs (1-2) with six points.

Leavitt 90, Oak Hill 38

WALES — Senior forward Jordan Hersom stung the Raiders with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds as Leavitt jettisoned Oak Hill 90-38 in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.

The Hornets (3-0) were also powered by Andrew Middleton, who had 18 points with five rebounds and five blocks. And, Tyler Walton contributed 13 points with seven assists, six steals and five rebounds.

The Raiders (0-3), though undersized, provided some symmetry in the scoring with alternating eight and 11 points in each of the four quarters.

Sophomore center Derek Gamage shot a team-high five field goals for 10 points, while Kelsey LaMothe notched a team-high six rebounds for Oak Hill.

Bangor 4, St. Dom’s 3, OT

LEWISTON — Senior forward Wyatt Frost scored the game-winning goal 1:39 into the overtime frame as Bangor edged St. Dom’s 4-3 in boys’ ice hockey action Friday.

Ram’s (3-0) goalie Chris Howat single-handedly kept the Saints off the scoreboard in the first two periods, making an astonishing 44 saves in the contest. Parker Sanderson had a goal and two assists for Bangor.

Senior forward Spencer Martin provided a goal and two assists in the third period for the Saints (1-1). Goalie Austin Christopher turned away 21 shots for St. Dom’s.

Edward Little 3, Mt. Ararat/Lisbon 1

AUBURN — Edward little scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the first period and it was all it would need to upend Mt. Ararat/Lisbon 3-1 in the Gipper’s Tournament in boys’ hockey action.

Brendon Pelletier scored the game’s first goal with an unassisted score just 1:14 into the game. Travis Landry followed seven minutes later with the second goal of the period. Jared Pelletier and Matt Berube both assisted on the goal.

After a scoreless second period, Mt. Ararat/Lisbon cut the lead to one six minutes into the third with an unassisted tally from Eric Stuckey.

Drew Lupardo finally gave the Red Eddies (1-1) some breathing room.

EL’s Allen Nelson stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced in net. Counterpart Zach O’Connor stopped 15 of 18 in the loss for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon (1-1).
