KINGFIELD — The Schoolhouse Gallery will present an exhibit of oil paintings by plein air artist Matthew Russ, opening Jan. 6, during the Kingfield First Friday Artwalk.

Russ, a Portland native and 1996 graduate of Colby College, is known for his tranquil work depicting remote landscapes of Maine. Accessing these locations by foot, snowshoe and boat, he paints outdoors in all seasons.

His works will be on display through Feb. 2.

The work of paper artists Kate Cheney Chappell and Dona Seegers will be on exhibit during February; and Margaurite Robichaux and Elizabeth Peavy will be on hand during the March Artwalk to celebrate the completion of their new book, “Glorious Slow Going, Maine Stories of Art, Adventure and Friendship.” There will be a reading, book signings and original artwork by Robichaux and “Birds in Flight” Eustis paper sculptor Hugh Verrier will be on display throughout March.
