ROCKLAND — Kristen Anderson and Adrianna Newton combined for 25 first-quarter points as Leavitt raced out to a 30-point halftime lead en route to an 85-56 girls basketball win over Oceanside Friday.
The Hornets (7-0) poured in 34 points in the first quarter and led by 17 heading into the second. Anderson scored 12 points in the first quarter and finished with 31 points. She hit four 3-pointers and totaled eight assists and four steals. Newton finished with 25 points while hauling down 13 rebounds. She also chipped in with six of her team’s 22 steals.
Kennadi Grover led the Mariners (3-4) with 21 points while Jill Bradbury chipped in with 20.
Mt. Blue 49, Erskine 26
FAIRFIELD — Miranda Nicely led a balanced attack with 10 points to spark Mt. Blue to a 49-26 victory over Lawrence in a KVAC girls’ basketball game Friday.
The Cougars (3-3) led 10-5, 23-9, 35-19 at the quarter breaks.
Gabby Foy chipped in with nine points, while Nicely had five rebounds and Mackenzie Conlogue had six steals.
Paige Belanger led Lawrence with eight points, all of which came from the free-throw line.
Oxford Hills 58, Erskine 46
PARIS — Abbie Eastman and Alex Rowe each tallied 13 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 58-46 victory in girls’ basketball action Friday.
Rowe also pulled down 10 rebounds for the Vikings (3-3). Meryl Bond led Erskine (1-5) with 11 points.
Forest Hills 42, Buckfield 19
BUCKFIELD — Kori Coril drained five 3-pointers to lead Forest Hill to a 42-19 girls’ basketball win over Buckfield Friday night.
Coril hit three of her treys in the third quarter to extend the Tigers’ lead to 38-15. She finished with 15 points to lead all scorers. Jocelyn Hoyt added 12 for the Tigers (4-1).
Danielle Patrie scored 10 points and garnered 10 rebounds to lead the Bucks (2-3).
Brunswick 50, Lewiston 34
BRUNSWICK — Julia and Becky Champagne scored 13 of the Dragon’s 24 second quarter points as Brunswick coasted to a 50-34 victory over Lewiston in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday evening.
The Dragons (3-3) outpaced the Blue Devils (0-6) by a margin of 24-10 in the second quarter to take the game out of reach of Lewiston.
Meg Bryant tossed nine of 10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to secure a game-high 14 points for Brunswick.
Sophomore forward Brie Wilson posted a team-high eight points on two field goals and four from the line for Lewiston in the losing effort.
Hockey
Lewiston 6, Yarmouth 2
YARMOUTH — Lauren Lessard scored a pair of goals and Erica Lemieux had two assists to lead Lewiston to a 6-2 triumph over Yarmouth in a girls’ hockey game Friday.
Rylee Letourneau scored 39 seconds into the game to give Lewiston the quick lead, which it never surrendered.
Erin Hubbard, Makaela Field and Emily Turner also scored for the Blue Devils (33-5-1).
Katie Brown and Suzanne Driscoll scored the Yarmouth goals.
Brianna Lajoie earned the win in goal for Lewiston.
