LEWISTON — George A. Rousseau, 94, formerly of 186 Ash St., died Sunday, Jan. 1, at Montello Manor.

He was born in Lewiston, March 11, 1917, son of the late George and Maria Croteau Rousseau. He was educated in Lewiston schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.

On May 11, 1946, he married Rita M. Samson, who predeceased him Nov. 30, 2009.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Lewiston. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the DAV Emilien Hamann Chapter.

He is survived by a daughter, Felicia Ouellette and husband, John, of Lewiston; a granddaughter, Jennifer Elliott and husband, Mark; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Joseph; and a sister, Hilda Dion of Bonita Springs, Fla.
