LISBON — Alexa Harmon ignited a 15-2 run in the second quarter that helped Lisbon pull off a 50-25 victory over Winthrop in a MVC girls’ basketball tilt Thursday.

Harmon finished with 15 points for the Greyhounds (3-4), including eight in that key second frame. Denise Thomas chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Jessica Campbell contributed with 10 points and three steals.

The winless Ramblers (0-7) were paced by Randi Dennett with a solid 12-point performance.

Rangeley 54, Pine Tree 13

RANGELEY — After pouncing early with a 20-0 run in the opening stanza, Rangeley put it on cruise control and rolled on home to a 54-13 rout over Pine Tree Academy in girls’ basketball action Thursday.

Chantal Carrier led Heidi Deery’s Lakers (6-1) with 13 points, while Seve Deery-DeRaps chipped in with nine. Blayke Morin also contributed with eight points and 15 rebounds, as did Taylor Esty with her eight-point tally.

St. Dom’s 30, Carrabec 24

AUBURN — Sophomore guard Callie Greco notched a game-high 10 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 30-24 victory over Carrabec in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

Greco collected half of her points in the final frame, including three free throws. The Saints (2-5) scored first and led over the entire course of the contest.

Guard Jocelyn Jackson paced the Cobras (2-5) with eight points on three field goals and a pair from the charity stripe.

Spruce Mountain 45, Mountain Valley 33

JAY — Spruce Mountain jumped out to an early 13-6 advantage, maintained a double-digit lead throughout the game and went on to post a 45-33 victory over Mountain Valley in MVC girls’ action Thursday.

Kathryn Ventrella led the Phoenix (7-0) with 13 points, four assists and three steals. Alexi Deering chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds, while Emily Keene added eight points.

The Falcons (6-3) were paced by Ayla Allen with 12 points, while Chrissy Briggs added 10.

Madison 49, Monmouth 30

MADISON — Sam Bruce scored a game-high 14 points to lad unbeaten Madison to a 49-30 victory over Monmouth in an MVC girls’ basketball game Thursday.

The Bulldogs (7-0) used a stifling full-court press to set the tone early. That pressue allowed Madison to grab a 13-6 lead after one quarter. An 18-13 halftime lead grew to 36-23 entering the final stanza.

Kristine Kahl scored eight points to lead the Mustangs (3-5).

Boys’ basketball

Lisbon 45, Winthrop 36

LISBON — Senior point guard Mason Smith drained 12 points to lead Lisbon to a 45-36 triumph over Winthrop in MVC boys’ basketball action Thursday.

The Greyhounds (1-7) broke the game open with a 14-3 second quarter run for a 24-10 haltime lead. Sophomore guard Tucker Brannon chipped in with two field goals and six free throws for 10 points for Lisbon.

Despite a balanced attack by Hunter Kilgore, Taylor Morang and Tyler Foster with eight points each, the Ramblers (0-8) remain winless on the season.

Rangeley 58, Pine Tree 28

RANGELEY — After sprinting out to a commanding 12-point advantage in the first quarter, Rangeley coasted to a relatively easy 58-28 win over Pine Tree Academy in boys’ basketball action Thursday.

The Lakers (4-3) utilized a talented trio to overpower their opponent, led by Alex Morton with 16 points. Kyle Hayley chipped in with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Eric White netted 13 points and pulled down 19 rebounds.

Pine Tree (1-5) was paced by Zack Wilday with a solid 18-point performance.

Boothbay 71, Telstar 62

BETHEL — Anthony DiMauro sparked a 21-7 run in the third quarter that allowed Boothbay to hand on for a 71-62 victory over Telstar in MVC boys’ basketball action Thursday.

DiMauro scored six of his impressive 30-point total in the third frame. Ben Dickerson also contributed for the Seahawks with 17 points.

The Rebels were paced by Don Haynes with 25 points, including four shots

from beyond the arc. Cory Howard chipped in with 15 points, while Dan Whitney added 13.
