LEWISTON — Helen Rossignol Lebel, formerly of 158 College St., and Maison Marcotte, Lewiston, died Friday, Jan. 6, 12 days shy of her 92nd birthday at Marshwood Center in Lewiston of complications of Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Keegan, Jan. 18, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Marie Nadeau Rossignol. She was one on 17 children, and was educated in Van Buren schools.
On June 27, 1939, she married Claude R. Lebel, who passed away Dec. 3, 1978. A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish. She was active in the Ladies of St. Anne Solidarity and volunteered in many church organizations. She also volunteered in numerous other organizations.
Survivors include four sons, Philip and his wife, Marise, of Scarborough, Patrick and his wife, Colleen, of West Poland, Normand and his wife, Betty, of Sabattus and Robert of Portland; one daughter, Cecile and her husband, Bruce Szal, of Monmouth; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her youngest sister, Rita Charette of New Britain, Conn.; and several nephews and nieces.
Besides her loving husband, she was predeceased by 15 brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Adam Szal.
