RUMFORD — Catherine “Gloria” Lavorgna, 77, died Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Rumford Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a resident of Osgood Avenue in Mexico.

She was born in Mexico, Aug. 11, 1934, a daughter of Joseph (Farmer Jones) and Angie (Peters) Arsenault. She was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1952, and was a proud PINTO. She worked for many local shoe shops in the area.

Gloria was a communicant of The Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius–St. John Church; she enjoyed her summers in Prince Edward Island, Canada, and winters in Fort Myers, Fla.; she was an avid Bingo player; a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who always had plenty of M&M’s for all; she was a member of the Napoleon Ouellette Post 24 American Legion Auxiliary, LeParesseux Snowshoe Club, and Rumford Falls Aerie 1248 FOE.

She was married in Mexico, Sept. 3, 1956, to Anthony Lavorgna, who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include five sons, Edward of Mexico, Joseph and his wife, Pattie, of Alaska, David and his companion, Audrey, of Mexico, Danny of Mexico and Dale and his companion, Catherine, of Mexico; a daughter, Paris White and her husband, Larry, of Plymouth; a sister, Rita Woods of Rumford; 26 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons, Anthony and Eugene; and three sisters, Marie Preble, Eleanor Martin and Theresa Arsenault.

The family would like to thank the Rumford Hospital and staff for the care and comfort extended to Gloria and her family.
