The millions of dollars that professional athletes get paid makes me nauseous. The same goes for the team owners, raking in ticket sales, concessions and souvenirs. And let us not forget how well the agents representing the athletes get paid. All of them are addicted to greed.

I wonder about the tax revenue from those millions of dollars in salaries. I hope those taxes are helping reduce the deficit, helping an economy that is on the verge of a complete financial breakdown, helping the homeless and starving Americans. So much taxpayer money goes to support the ongoing war in Afghanistan, costing the American people billions of their taxpayer dollars that will never be recovered. And then the politicians vote themselves pay increases.

More and more athletes are being offered long-term, multi-million dollar contracts to play professional sports. Some will think they are above the law, since they can bail themselves out of jail easily if arrested. They set a shameful example for young athletes who look up to them as role models.

How can a middle-class family afford to attend a professional sports event without having to borrow budget money to purchase tickets and food? It is sickening to watch someone play professional sports, making millions of dollars, while most Americans are struggling to make ends meet.

No professional athlete is worth millions of dollars to play sports. I hope sports fans will realize that professional sports is all about athletes, owners and agents being addicted to greed.
