RANGELEY — Freshman Taylor Esty torched the nets for 34 points Saturday to lead Rangeley to an easy 71-40 triumph over Forest Hills.

The Lakers (12-1) jumped out to leads of 19-7 after one quarter and 40-17 by halftime to seize control.

Esty also had 17 rebounds for Rangeley. Jenney Abbott also enjoyed a double-double with 18 points, 20 rebounds and five assists. Emily Carrier chipped in with fiive assists.

Kori Coro and Keely Taylor led Forest Hills (10-4) with nine points apiece.

Lisbon 55, Winthrop 38

LISBON — Jessica Campbell scored 21 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as Lisbon landed on Withrop with a 55-38 victory in a girls’ basketball game Saturday night.

The Greyhounds (6-7) held a 35-18 lead at halftime.

Lisbon’s Alexa Moore added 12 points and Sarah Giraldo came up with 10. For Winthrop, Jess Scott scored 17 points.

Mt. Blue 30, Hampden 26

FARMINGTON — Sophomore guard Miranda Nicely tossed a team-high 11 points to lead Mt. Blue to a 30-26 victory over Hampden in KVAC girls’ basketball action.

The Cougars (9-5) were tough on defense in the first half, especially in keeping the Broncos (8-6) scoreless in the second quarter, for a 16-8 lead at the midpoint.

Gabby Foye contributed eight points on a pair of field goals and three free throws, including one from beyond the arc, for Mt. Blue.

Jordan Maxwell and Ashley Danforth provided the bulk of Hampden’s scoring with 11 points each in the losing effort.

Spruce Mountain 31, Mt. Abram 22

SALEM — Senior guard Alexis Deering scored a game-high nine points in a balanced attack as Spruce Mountain pulled out a 31-22 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The game was still tied at 11-11 midway through the third quarter when the Pheonix (12-2) exploded for 12 points over a two-minute span.

Junior guards Tori Beane and Mikayla Luce provided six points apiece for the Roadrunners (7-7). Beane tossed two field goals from beyond the arc, while Luce sank six free throws in the losing effort.

Medomak Valley 58, Oak Hill 46

WALDOBORO — Senior guard Alana Vose buried the opposition with 40 points as Medomak Valley grabbed a 58-46 decision from Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Raiders (4-11) led 23-21 at the midpoint. Senior guard Jane Marston recorded a career-high 16 points for Oak Hill.

The Panthers picked up the tempo in the third and fourth quarters, oustscoring Oak Hill 21-12 in the final frame to secure the win.

Leavitt 79, Maranacook 42

READFIELD — Kristen Anderson piled up 26 points and Adrianna Newton was a point shy with 25 as Leavitt leveled Maranacook with a 79-42 victory in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.

The Hornets (13-2) held a 38-18 lead at halftime.

Sarah Frost also contributed 10 points to Leavitt’s cause. Hanna Clough scored 10 points and Claira Miller had 11 for Maranacook (5-8)

Hall-Dale 56, Dirigo 33

DIXFIELD — Carylanne Wolfington poured in 24 points to lift Hall-Dale to a 56-33 victory over Dirigo in an MVC girls’ basketball game Saturday.

The Bulldogs (11-3) led throughout, building leads of 16-9, 25-13 and 42-21 at the quarter breaks.

Allison Crocket chipped in with 10 points for Hall-Dale. Ambyr Wilson paced Dirigo (8-7) with eight points.

Monmouth 55, Wiscasset 28

MONMOUTH — Kylie kem scored 14 of her 22 points in the second half as Monmouth pressed to a 55-28 triumph over Wiscasset in girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Indians (2-13) hung tough for the first half. Heidi Pinkham scored nine points, and Kayla Connors contributed eight pionts for Wiscasset.

The Mustangs (7-8) picked up the gait in the second half, scoring a frame-high 18 points in the third quarter. Kristine Kahl had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds in the winning effort.

Girls’ hockey

Lewiston 3, Cheverus 2

PORTLAND — Ashley Chase scored two goals, including the winning tally, as Lewiston shook off stubborn Cheverous with a 3-2 victory in a girls’ hockey game.

The Blue Devils (8-7-1) took a 1-0 lead when Chase scored her unassisted goal on a power play in the first period. The Stags responded with two goals by Katie Roy and Sarah LaQuerre in the second period.

But the Blue Devils came right back in the third period when Laren Lessard scored her unassisted goal. Chase used an Erin Hubbard feed and punched in the winning goal at 11:01 to give Lewiston a victory.

Leavitt/EL 0, York 0

AUBURN — After an eight-minute overtime, York and Leavitt/Edward Little played to a 0-0 tie in a girls’ hockey game Saturday night. LEL’s Tory Sanford was in net, making sure York never scored a goal.

Lewiston was busy all night on the penalty kill, dealing with Cheverus’ six power-play opportunities.
