BUCKFIELD — Senior forward Austin Dooley notched a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds as Buckfield narrowly escaped with a 50-48 triumph over North Yarmouth Academy in boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Bucks (6-9) built a nine-point lead at the half. Cody Barker also posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds for Buckfield.

The Panthers battled back in the third quarter with a 22-8 run to take a five point lead. But Buckfield made key shots down the stretch to narrowly escape with the win.

Assad Dahia led all scorers with 31 points on 14 field goals, including a 3-pointer and two free throws.

Lewiston 67, Cony 40

LEWISTON — Senior power forward Corbin Hyde and junior guard Donne Agossou recorded identical scoring with six field goals and a pair of free throws for 14 points apiece as Lewiston cruised to a 67-40 victory over Cony in KVAC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Blue Devils (12-3) jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and extended their lead for a 36-13 halftime advantage.

Senior small forward Walker Cooper netted a team-leading 12 points on five field goals and a free throw, including a basket from three-point range for the Rams (5-10).

Brunswick 60,

Oxford Hills 55

BRUNSWICK — Garrett Erb ignited a 24-17 run in the third quarter that propelled Brunswick to a 60-55 victory over Oxford Hills in an MVC boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday.

Erb tallied eight of his 16 total points in that key third frame. The talented brother act of Mitch (13) and Ryan (12) Black combined for 25 points in the Dragons’ (10-5) well-balanced attack.

The Vikings (4-11) were paced by Josh MacDonald with a solid 13-point effort, while John Frechette tallied nine and Deric Hanscomb added eight.

Poland 65, Gray-NG 45

GRAY — After jumping out to a commanding 12-point advantage in the first quarter, Poland coasted home to post a 65-45 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in a WMC boys’ tilt Tuesday.

Ricky Bryant led the Knights with an impressive 22 points, while CJ Martin chipped in with 16. Poland built a 38-18 lead in the first half and was never challenged.

The Patriots were paced by Aaron Boulos and Austen Keenan with 11 points apiece, while Spencer Harriman and Brandon Thibeault each added seven.

Falmouth 3, St. Dom’s 2

FALMOUTH — Ben Freeman netted the game-clinching goal at the 6:35 mark of overtime as Falmouth nudged St. Dom’s 3-2 in boys’ ice hockey action Tuesday evening.

Senior forward Spencer Martin, who had assisted on the first goal of the contest, put the Saints (7-4) back on top 2-1 in the second period.

But Cam Bell gave the Yachtsmen (7-2-1) a second chance on a tally with just 18 seconds remaining in regulation to send it into overtime.

Goalie Grant Carrier made 32 saves for St. Dom’s, while goalie Dane Pauls prevented 29 to earn the win in net for Falmouth.
