DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know where I can get insulation quilts about 1 to 2 inches thick that would be suitable for protecting a cold frame or small chicken coop? I need something about 9 by 12 feet or bigger that is flexible and preferably water repellent.

I wouldn’t mind putting some work into putting something together, but just can’t think of any place to get materials. Any suggestions would be appreciated. — stocker7@fairpoint.net

ANSWER: If Sun Spots was undertaking the same project, she would be inclined to use canvas tarps. You don’t see them around as much as you used to — everyone seems to use the ubiquitous blue plastic — but they are still available.

At tarpsupply.com, they have several different weights, so you could layer two, with the lighter one on the bottom. With a little air space between them, your coop should be toasty.

Readers may have additional suggestions or know of local sources for quality tarps.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a digital camera that needs repair. Is there anyone in the Lewiston-Auburn region who could look at it? Thank you for your wonderful column. I read it every day. — Meagan, Lewiston

ANSWER: The helpful folks at Photo Finish, 550 Center St., in Auburn, 783-3354, don’t repair them, but they will take a look and give you their opinion as to whether you should send it out to be fixed. Unfortunately, often it is cheaper to replace than repair digital cameras.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for one Lenox Hayworth cup and saucer, made in the USA. I know how successful Sun Spots can be, so I look forward to hearing from you. — Patricia, No Town

ANSWER: Patricia asked Sun Spots not to use her address or phone number in her letter. Many readers do the same, but when you are asking for readers to help you find something, you need to provide contact information of some sort (phone is best, as many readers do not have computers), so they can reach you. Sun Spots doesn’t have the time or resources to act as a go-between.

As for the cup and saucer, there were two available on eBay when Sun Spots checked. If Patricia doesn’t have a computer, Stephen J. Martelli, Auburn, 786-9116, sjmartelli@myfairpoint.net, will help her buy what she seeks.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Anyone out there who buys Hummels? I have the Supreme Protection, the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the birth of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. It is the painted version.

Thanks for all you do for our community. Sun Spots is the first thing I read every morning. I am amazed that people notice that Chris and Sharon Rose are not wearing wedding rings anymore and that Kevin Mannix now wears one. It has certainly made me pay more attention to the details! — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots is sorry, but you can’t sell things via Sun Spots. eBay is often your best option. Sun Spots did a quick check, and it looked like there is a pretty good market for your item.

If you don’t want to sell on eBay yourself, Stephen from the previous question can help you, as can Nola, Goin Postal, 120 Center St., Auburn, 784-9900.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for lots of assorted cookie and candy tins of any size. Condition isn’t of importance. Call me at 786-7170. — L., Auburn
