LEWISTON — Gordon J. Martineau, 77, of Treemount Drive, Lewiston, died Monday, Feb. 6, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side.

He was born in Waterville, July 25, 1934, a son of the late Elzear and Helen (Goulet) Martineau. He moved to Lewiston as an infant, attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1953.

Gordon married Lydia Schott on June 22, 1956. He delivered milk for many years, working for Cotes, Oakhurst and Hemond’s dairies. He then went on to drive for City Bus and Hudson Bus Line.

Gordon enjoyed sports, especially following the Red Sox, Bruins, Pats and Celtics. Many of his vacations were to a sporting event of some kind, he also enjoyed going on cruises, boating and camping.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Lydia Martineau of Lewiston; a son, Blaine Martineau and his wife, Denise, of Sabattus; two sisters, Irene Gosselin and husband, Kenneth, of Pennsylvania, and Jeannine Maliar and husband, Robert, of Connecticut; a brother, Roger Martineau and wife, Geneva, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Shannon and Chad Martineau of Sabattus and Cortney Cyr and her companion, Michael Gola, of Waterville; a great-grandson, Calab; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Derren Martineau.

The family would like to send a very special thank-you to the nurses and Dr. Kahn at St. Mary’s ICU and to Dr. Seth Gordon, for the wonderful care given to Gordon while he was under their care.
