BETHEL — Jacob Therriault sparked a 14-8 run in the third quarter that allowed Mountain Valley to pull out a 57-48 win over Telstar in a MVC regular season boys’ basketball finale Wednesday.

Therriault led the Falcons (11-7) with 27 points, including eight in the third frame and five baskets from beyond the arc. Andrew Child also contributed with 14 points in a balanced attack.

The Rebels (8-10) were paced by Nick Mills with 17 points, while Dominick Haines added nine.

Dan Whitney was poked in the eye early in the contest and was unable to return to the court.

Mt. Abram 18

SALEM — Joe Bryant ignited a 23-4 run in the third quarter that propelled St. Dom’s to a 60-18 decimation of Mt. Abram in a late-season boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

Bryant lit the boards for 23 points to lead the Saints (8-10), including eight in that key third frame.

Zak Johnson chipped in with eight points, while Matt Dyer and Ian McCracken each added six. The Roadrunners (3-15) were paced by Tyler Hupper with eight points, while Ethan Boyd added four.

Girls basketball

Freeport 50, Poland 22

FREEPORT — Leigh Wyman sank seven 3-pointers and outscored the opposition by herself for Freeport in a 50-22 victory over Poland in WMC girls’ basketball action on Wednesday.

Wyman finished with 23 points, while Alexandra Mitch chipped in with nine points for the Falcons (8-9). Brittina Maheux led the Knights (5-12) with seven points while Michaella Arsenault contributed six points.

Freeport held a 10-point halftime lead, then held the Knights to two points apiece in the third and fourth quarters to pull away.

Kents Hill 59, Hebron 32

HEBRON — After sprinting out to a 12-point lead in the first half, Kents Hill raced away to a 59-32 win over Hebron in girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

Emma Curnin led Kents Hill with a blistering 20-point effort, while Heather Larrabee chipped in with 16.

Marissa Tarro and Ashley Doyle also contributed with seven points apiece in a balanced attack.

\Hebron was paced by Jenna Cote with 12 points, while Olivia Brown added eight.

Ice hockey

Leavitt 7, Gardiner 3

AUBURN — Ian Durgin registered a hat trick and added two assists Wednesday to lead Leavitt to a 7-3 victory over Gardiner in a KVAC hockey matchup.

Durgin fouind the net in all three periods as the Hornets (5-4) kept their offense revved up. Conor O’Malley, Elizah Lamothe, Connor Violette and Tyler Hutchinson also tallied for Leavitt to complete the scoring. Nick Allen made 18 saves to notch the win.

The Tigers received goals from Hunter Belanger, Josh Moore and Cam Sullivan. Brad Moore turned aside 15 shots between the pipes.

Edward Little 5, Maranacook/H-D/Winthrop 2

AUBURN — Drew Lupardo netted a hat trick while Alan Nelson made an amazing 39 saves as Edward Little skated to a 5-2 win over Maranacook/Hall-Dale/Winthrop in boy’s hockey action Wednesday night.

Brandon Pelletier scored two goals for the Red Eddies (8-5-1) to complete the scoring. Jason Laporte and Dan Condon tallied for Maranacook/Hall-Dale/Winthrop, whileTyler Plante turned aside 22 shots between the pipes.
