AUBURN — A shadow puppet show and workshop will be offered from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.

Maine Storyteller and Puppeteer Jan Zimmerman will present a play, “Master Frog,” a tale from Vietnam similar to “Beauty and the Beast,” in the Androscoggin Community Room. The program is free and open to the public.

Zimmermann, storyteller, musician, teacher and artist, uses her love of the arts and words to weave a story. Her many voices give life to fun, frolicking and fantastic tales from around the world. She has been performing for libraries, schools and organizations, storytelling, playing music and presenting shadow puppetry.

After the performance, Zimmermann will hold a workshop teaching children and adults to make shadow puppets. The puppet workshop is also free, but  registration is necessary in order to have enough supplies.

The workshop is for children ages 6 and older as well as any interested adults. Call the library at 333-6640, ext. 3, to register. There is no need to register for the shadow puppet performance.
