LEWISTON — After 34 years of employment with the Lewiston Fire Department, Capt. Tim Myers of Wales announces his retirement.

Myers joined the department on April 27, 1978. He spent many shifts at all the stations as a fill-in and was later assigned to Engine 7 and Engine 3.

He attended many fire science classes during that time.

Meyers was promoted to the rank of lieutenant on Oct. 5, 1989, and was assigned to Snorkel 1, then Ladder 1 at Central Fire Station. On Jan. 5, 1992, he was promoted to the rank of captain on Platoon B and assigned to Engine 7 at Central Station. As captain, he was in charge of all apparatus repairs for many years and more recently in charge of building repairs.

He lives with his wife, Lola, and said he looks forward to spending time at home.
