RUMFORD — Comedienne Mary Dimino’s one-woman show “Scared Skinny” premiered at the 13th annual New York Fringe Festival, where it won the 2010 Fringe NYC Best Solo Show Award.

Dimino, who grew up as a chubby Italian American girl in Queens, will bring that show to 49 Franklin hall on Saturday, Feb. 25.

“Scared Skinny” will open with  an excerpt of Rumford native Sassi Keegan’s (formerly known as Jennifer Sassi) one-woman show, which debuted in its earliest form at junior prize speaking in 1987.

Sassi’s one woman show, “The Girl In The Mirror,” chronicles her experience as an adopted child growing up in a wonderful family, but still feeling different. It takes audiences through her struggles with an eating disorder and the loss of her brother, and comes full circle with a happy-ending reunion with her birth mother.

The two women will also perform stand-up comedy at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at 49 Franklin. The show,  recommended for ages 17 and up, contains some adult language, adult humor and mature topics.

Among her other credits, Dimino won the 2008 Gracie Allen Award for the PBS documentary “Fat, What No One is Telling You” and was featured on NBC’s “Today Show.” Other TV appearances include “The Chris Rock Show,” Comedy Central, VH-1, American Movie Classics, “New York Undercover,” “The Graham Norton Effect” and sketches on late shows with David Letterman and Conan O’ Brien.

A regular on the comedy club circuit, her engagements include Stand Up New York, Caroline’s, The Comic Strip, The Improv and The World Famous Laugh Factory. Also a winner of Comedy Central’s Boot-camp Contest, Dimino has opened for Jeanine Garafolo, Ray Romano and Richard Beltzer. On-stage, she played the maid of honor in “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” and had a featured part in the Off-Broadway musical “Surprise.” She also writes for the nationally syndicated website dietdetective.com.

Sassi has appeared on MTV, Nickelodeon and “Good Morning America.” She has worked with Chicago City Limits, Blue Man Group: Tubes and The National Theatre of Performing Arts. She has been featured in the New York Underground Comedy, Mamapalooza and Women and Comedy festivals. She also appears regularly at the New York Comedy and Broadway Comedy clubs, as well as many clubs across the country, including The Laugh Factory in LA.
