ALDER STREAM TOWNSHIP — A Canadian truck driver escaped serious injury Thursday morning when the loaded log truck she was driving rolled over on Route 27.
Franklin County Sheriff ‘s Deputy Matthew Brann said he came upon the accident at about 10 a.m.
Brann was at the Canadian border at Coburn Gore when the truck crossed. He said he was heading south, like the truck, but stopped at the “overlook” near Natanis Pond for a bit before continuing south.
He came across the truck on its passenger side and the logs spilled into a ditch.
The trailer of the truck driven by Sophie Roy, 29, of Saint-Georges, Quebec, apparently drifted onto the shoulder after she crossed a bridge and the load shifted, Brann said.
She suffered a possible broken nose but declined hospital treatment, he said.
He said the 2000 Sterling truck is owned by Transport Adrien Roy Filles Inc. of Saint Martin, Quebec.
Deputy Nathan Bean, Eustis Fire Department and Border Patrol assisted Brann with the accident.
Pepin Logging of Coburn Gore loaded the wood onto a truck to be removed from the ditch.
Collins Enterprise of Wilton put the truck back on its wheels and a towing company from Quebec towed the rig back to Canada.
