DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m writing in hopes of raising awareness about stray dogs in the Oxford Hills area. When the local shelter closed over a year ago, Responsible Pet Care in Norway started taking in strays.

Many people do not know this, as RPC is primarily a cat shelter. They do an outstanding service with not much money and rely on their dedicated volunteers. Taking on the care of dogs has meant more work, and RPC needs our help.

A group has formed and will meet at the Norway Town Hall on Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. to learn more about what RPC needs. If any of you dog lovers want to help out in any way, please join us. Thank you. – Jackie Stoutamyer via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends is looking for bakers and candy makers to benefit a feral calico cat and her three kittens (for whom we found homes), who were rescued from a toxic dump.

Kali has cancer and is being treated. We are in need of money to care for her. We hope she will be a survivor, so come join us at the Kennel Shop in the Lewiston Mall on April 7 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for an Easter egg hunt and face painting.

Thank you to Sun Spots for making this possible. — Norm, 650-8374.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to thank Mary Ann for listing unwanted ELHS yearbooks in the Feb. 9 column. I was able to add two more books to my genealogy collection.

If anyone else has any unwanted yearbooks from Auburn, I would be interested in hearing from them. I have been collecting ELHS, Walton and any other Auburn school yearbooks that are available.

I only have a small budget for books, but we might be able to come to an agreement. I don’t mind if the yearbooks are really old and have writing in them. I would rather have them in a collection than to be tossed during a spring cleanup or when someone needs to reduce the amount of clutter in their home. — Joline, 689-8552, J4tier@roadrunner.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for publishing my letter about my efforts to complete my Harlequin romance collection from numbers 1 to 100.

I also want to thank the people who helped me do this. They include:

* Artios books on Center Street in Auburn; he has a really good collection of used books.

* Mr. and Mrs. Nielsen in Greene, who have a whole barn full of used treasures.

* The Auburn Public Library, where I found a used book I had been looking for for two years.

* Ms. Little, where I found a third of the books I was looking for.

* Rejeanne of Mexico, who had the rest of the books I needed. She says anyone can call her if they are looking for a variety of romance novels. She has quite a lot. Her number is 364-3349.

Again, thank you for such a good response. When I am ready to do numbers 101 to 200, I will certainly contact these people.

Thanks again. — Diane, Greene

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a 1971 yearbook for Lewiston High School. I got my GED when I was 50, so now I would like the yearbook for the year that I would have graduated. Maybe someone has a spare or does not need his or hers anymore? I would gladly pay for it. Thanks. — A. Girardin, agirardin@roadrunner.com, 577-6559

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Just thought I’d inform you that the phone number (784-7062) for the “invisible mending/weaving” that you posted Friday, Feb. 24, is not associated with the person who has this skill. Hope someone out there who has this talent comes forward. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots originally published that information more than a year ago, so the original letter is long gone. And she couldn’t find anything for L. Ligthart in the phone book or online. She hopes L. will come forward and provide the correct phone number.
