Courtney Qi, 17, of Farmington, and five other high school seniors take a break during rehearsal for the Distinguished Young Women of Maine competition at the Lewiston Middle School on Friday. The women will be judged in five categories during Saturday’s 55th annual competition for the chance to win $2,200 in scholarships for college. They will compete in categories such as talent, self expression, fitness and scholastics. The winner  will represent the state in national competition in Mobile, Ala. DeAnne Start of Mechanic Falls is Maine state chairperson. The competition begins at 2 p.m. at LMS and is open to the public for $5 each. Money raised will be used for scholarships.
