LEWISTON — Marguerite A. Violette, 91, of 158 Russell St., Lewiston, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 26, at Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center.

She was born in Biddeford, Oct. 24, 1920, the daughter of Ernest and Rose A. (Beaupre) Letendre and had been a resident of this community for most of her life.

She had been a homemaker, having raised four children with her husband, John H. Violette Sr.

She was a member of the Lewiston Senior Citizens, Dames de St. Ann’s of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and a parishioner of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Marguerite was an avid pinochle and cribbage player and enjoyed playing with her friends at the Multi-Purpose Center in Lewiston. She had a great sense of humor and was very loyal and dedicated to her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane A. Miner and her husband, Tom, of Holden; three sons, Robert Violette and his wife, Lucille, of Lewiston, John H. Violette Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline, of Lewiston and Ronald Violette of Raynham, Mass.; two sisters, Theresa Canuel and Beatrice Lecomte, both of Lewiston; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, John H. Violette Sr. of 59 years, whom she married on March 28, 1944; and who died on Feb. 1, 2004; a sister, Rita Caron; and two brothers, Alfred and Benoit Letendre.
