RUMFORDEdith A. Milligan, 84, of Rumford, died Thursday, April 5, in Fort Myers, Fla.

Born in Southern Pines, N.C., on Oct. 28, 1927, she was a daughter of William and Edna (Simpson) Avery. She was a graduate of Stephens High School.

She was an avid Beano player and Red Sox fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, rug braiding, and wintering in Fort Myers, Fla. She was also a foster mom along with taking care of her eight children.

She was married in Rumford on May 17, 1948, to Earl Milligan.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Earl;  five sons, Gary and his wife, Terry, of Texas, Steve and his wife, Janet, of Arkansas, Allie and his wife, Marie, of Alabama, Phil of Andover, and Dan and his wife, Sylvine, of Virginia; three daughters, Gail Weston and her husband, Norm, of Rumford, Linda Emmons and her husband, Will, of Saco, and Adrienne Platt and her husband, Mike, of Missouri; four sisters, Natalie Reed of Mexico, Mary Smith of Lebanon, Darlene Jamison of Mexico, and Edna Heath of Conway, N.H.; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a grandson, Neil Weston.
