Lewiston-native and Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey made headlines when he helped save a teenage boy from a car wreck outside Dempsey’s Malibu, Calif. home last Tuesday.

According to ABC News, Weston Masset, 17, lost control of his Ford Mustang while driving, flipping it three times by the actor’s home.

Passenger Dylan Miller said in a TV interview with ABC News that Masset was still stuck in the car because the doors wouldn’t open and the car was upside down. Dempsey came running down his driveway and used a crow bar to pry the doors to the car open to help the Masset out.

Dempsey called 911 and stayed with Masset until he was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Masset and Miller sustained non-life threatening injuries.
