BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield baseball squad was on top of things Wednesday, hustling to a pair of 13-2 and 12-0 wins over Rangeley in an EWC matchup.

In Game 1, Austin Dooley ignited an eight-run fifth frame that opened things up for Buckfield. Dooley belted a well-timed RBI double and the rally put the Bucks (4-0) in command to stay. Alan Lebel led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Cody White belted a pair of hits.

The Lakers (2-2) jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first frame and led until Buckfield went ahead in the third. Eric White was tagged with the loss after working the first four innings. In the nightcap, the Bucks (5-0) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning and were never challenged. Jonah Williams and Dustin Damon each pounded out two hits, while Jeff Pepin and Garrett also had two hits.

Falmouth 6, Gray-NG 0

GRAY — First baseman Andrew Emple clubbed a double and smashed a home run as Falmouth shutout Gray-New Gloucester 6-0 in WMC baseball action Wednesday.

The Yachtsmen (4-0) put three points on the board in the first inning and coasted behind Connor Murphy’s pitching the rest of the way.

Kevin Cavallaro punched out a pair of singles for the Patriots (2-3).

Dirigo 8, Spruce Mountain 2

DIXFIELD — Senior shortstop Caleb Turner produced a single and double as Dirigo scooped up an 8-2 victory over Spruce Mountain in MVC baseball action Wednesday.

The Cougars (6-1) rotated through three pitchers, who combined for 10 strikeouts to keep Spruce Mountain from mounting any serious offense.

Billy Calden cracked an RBI single in the two-run fourth inning for the Phoenix (6-1). But, Spruce Mountain stalled over the ensuing three innings to take the loss.

Telstar 12, Carrabec 4

BETHEL — Kyle Peterson hammered out three of Telstar’s 10 hits and drove in three runs as the Rebels overwhelmed winless Carrabec, 12-4, in a baseball game Wednesday.

Telstar (2-1) took command with an 11-2 lead after three innings and cruised the rest of the way.

Logan Bartlett got the win on the mound for the Rebels. Drew Wilson and Dan Whitney each doubled and had two hits

for Telstar.
