NORWAY — The Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary met April 11 with president Thelma Denlinger presiding. A ham supper, prepared by Legionnaires, preceded the meeting.

A yard sale will be held July 20-21 at Great Scott’s Storage, Route 26. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit veterans.

The Children Welfare Foundation Blue Pig Program collected $66.48 from members.

Donations voted on were to Children Miracle Network. The secretary and treasurer were given a donation for all the work they do.

Fifth-grader William Perreault was a guest. He read his winning essay. The Rowe School student took part in the National Presidents Scholarship Program. There were 69 essays in all.

Delegates to Auxiliaries Dept. Convention in June will be Joyce Clifford, Lucille Allen and Kathy Neary.

New officers elected were Thelma Denlinger, president; Kathy Neary, first vice-president; Marjy Sessions, second vice-president; Joyce Clifford, secretary; Rose Moulton, treasurer; Marcy Dullea, chaplain; Carmen Rideout, historian; Theresa Dodge, sergeant-at-arms; Beulah Ayer, Elleanor Durant, Tammy Hill, executive committee.

The unit will send two girls to Girl State, Alyssa Andrews of Norway and Megan Feeley of Hebron.

The unit will be out with poppies on Friday, May 11, on Main Street by the Post Office and at The Lake Store.
