AUBURN — Donald York, 65, of Mechanic Falls, died Tuesday, May 8, at the Hospice House after a long illness.

He was born April 25, 1947, the son of Albert and Mary (Hilton) York, in Presque Isle. He was educated in Presque Isle schools and graduated in 1965. He served honorably in the Maine National Guard from 1965 to 1970.

In 1982, he married his wife, Carol (Letourneau) York, to whom he was married for almost 30 years.

He worked for many years for BIW, retiring in 1992, due to health issues. After his retirement, he returned to school and was awarded a degree in computer science from Mid-State College.

For years after that, he volunteered his time and energy providing computer repair and technical support to the town of Mechanic Falls in the Town Office, Police Department, and Water Department. He felt strongly that as a citizen of Mechanic Falls, he could make a difference.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, David and wife, Stacey of Mechanic Falls, Daniel and wife, Tammy, of Lisbon Falls and Derek, of Yorktown, Va.; daughter, Cherie of Yorktown, Va.; stepsons, Jason Cloutier and wife, Arlyn and Jody Cloutier and wife, Kristy, of Duvall, Wash.; grandchildren, Ciera and husband, Corey Colson, of Fredericksburg, Va., Matthew and Derek York of Mechanic Falls, Samantha Sirois of Yorktown, Va., and John Cloutier, of Duvall, Wash.; brothers, Albert of Long Beach, Calif., and Arnold of Presque Isle; sisters, Clara and husband, Bob Boyce, of Bucksport and Sharon Fox of Presque Isle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
