FARMINGTON – In observance of National Women’s Health Week, health screenings and education will be offered to all women by Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) staff from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Western Maine Community Action Health Program on Front Street.

Screenings offered include body composition analysis, bone density screenings and blood pressure checks. Cancer prevention education will also be available.

Maine women age 40 and older who have no insurance or who are under-insured and meet income guidelines may qualify to sign up to receive free mammograms and physicals.

To schedule an appointment, call 778-4553. Space is limited. Gifts will be given to all women participating while supplies last.

Sponsors of the screening day include the Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County, Western Maine Community Action, Maine Cancer Foundation, the Office on Women’s Health , and the Avon Foundation for Women.

National Women’s Health Week is organized by the Office on Women’s Health to bring together communities, businesses, government, health organizations, and other groups in an effort to promote women’s health.
